HOW TO LICENSE MY DESIGNS
WHAT IS ART LICENSING?
With art licensing you 'rent' my design for one or more of your products for a specific period of time, specific territories or globally; a license can be exclusive or non-exclusive. I retain the copyright.
As a licensee you will pay a fee to the licensor (the artist) to use the artwork in accordance with the terms we have mutually agreed on.
HOW DO NON-EXCLUSIVE AND EXCLUSIVE LICENSES WORK?
A non exclusive license allows you to use my designs in the production of your products and to sell your finished products for an agreed period of time and category. I keep ownership of the artwork. The design will still be available to other companies in the same categories as yours.
An exclusive license will give you exclusive use of my designs for an agreed period of time, specified product categories and territory. I keep ownership of the artwork and may continue to license in other product categories.
IS YOUR WORK AVAILABLE FOR BUY-OUTS?
I do consider buy-outs on an individual basis. Please get in touch to discuss this option.
WHO OWNS THE COPYRIGHT OF THE ARTWORK?
As the designer I retain all the copyright of the artwork and derivatives at all times, both for exclusive and non exclusive licensing.
With a buy-out copyright and ownership is transferred to the buyer.
HOW DO I CHOOSE READY-MADE ARTWORK?
Select designs from my catalogue; I can make small adjustments such as changing colour or scale.
DO YOU OFFER CUSTOM DESIGNS?
If you are looking for something unique for your products I can create custom designs according to your brief or vision and on mutually agreed terms including number of revisions.
WHAT IS A LICENSING AGREEMENT
After determining the details of our collaboration, we draw up a clear, legally binding contract establishing the exact terms and conditions.
HOW DO PRICING AND PAYMENT WORK?
Pricing depends on many different factors such as length of contract, number of product categories, complexity of artwork.
Common payment options can be a flat fee also with an agreed advance, or royalties, a percentage of your product sales either monthly, quarterly or every six months.
For a buy-out the full sum will be paid as agreed.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY DELIVERABLES?
Once payment has been received I will send you the deliverables in accordance with our agreement.
